These four garments were my final
collection for the end of year show of my Degree. They each represent one
of the four seasons, although not necessarily suitable for wearing in that
season

Only the pattern was made for this
dress, the measurements were given over the telephone. The customer emailed
images of two different dresses that she wanted elements from each one
combined into the one dress. The customer fed back that she only had to
tweak the waist by 1/2 inch for a perfect fit.

An Ivory satin, fitted and boned bodice with a diamante
edged neckline and a diamante finished dropped waistline. The narrow
straps are detachable and it has a zip in the side seam with a false gold
braid lace up center back. The skirt is made of ivory tulle in several
layers and although barley visible in the photo, it is scattered with diamante on most of
the layers, which glistened in the sunshine. This dress also has a very long detachable train which matches
the skirt, and a large net petticoat to add support.

This is a medieval style dress in Ruby coloured
Indian silk, with
gold silk piping on the bodice seams and dropped waist seam. The fitted
sleeves which end in a point over the back of the hand, also have an outer
sleeve hanging in a long point, which is made of cream coloured lace with gold
thread design, to match the wide banded neckline. The center back
fastening has a hidden zip under the gold braid lacing. The skirt is
full length with a net petticoat. The fully lined cape worn as an
alternative to a veil, was made of gold silk, with an extra large hood.

These front and
back views show a dress in Indian ivory silk with a boned and piped tight
bodice. It is worn off the shoulder with a fitted sleeve ending with a handkerchief
style frill from the elbow. The bustle, sleeve ends and front bodice all
has heavy beaded lace appliquéd cut and shaped into place. The center
back has a hidden zip underneath the eyelets laced with silver cord. The
skirt hem also has the beaded lace and is supported by a huge net under
skirt.

My personal favorite
This Bride is my own daughter, designed by
us both, in dusky pink silk and wine coloured
velvet, decorated with dried effect roses, gold metallic piping, gold lace
trim, with hand embroidery, beading and appliqué on the boned front bodice. The
short veil matches an overlay on the skirt in cream tulle with an
appliqué of gold net hearts, pearl sequins and beads. The back fastens
with a hidden zip with a gold laced up finish. A long detachable train was
finished with gold lace trim, this dress had many layers of net petticoats
underneath to create a ball gown effect. The short puff sleeves were
finished with a cluster of roses to match the center back dropped waist
line.

There were 16 bridesmaids
(a very young one missing from photo) made in wine and pink
pattered satin, with gold metallic piping and ivory and wine lace trim.
The style reflects a similarity to the brides dress, there were also 5
page boys with
waistcoats made from velvet left over from the brides dress. The
bride made all the headdresses using the same roses as used on the brides
dress, and little matching bears for the children to carry |

These lilac satin
dresses, are ankle length with 3 layers to the skirts. The top layer is
slightly scalloped up with clusters of tiny satin roses in three colours.
A little frill around the neck lines, again with clusters of roses,
compliments the skirt.
These girls were
the Bridesmaids for the Bride below.

Here is a wedding
dress made of white crystal organza. The rows of frills has a wired edge
to give them support, the front of the bodice included a large embroidered
and beaded motif which sadly is not in view. The very long train was
covered in rows of thrills and had a hooped and net petticoat.

This young bride
may look familiar, she is also the adult in the lilac bridesmaid dress
above which is for her sisters wedding. This dress is made of white
polyester silk with lace overlay in some areas and short puff sleeves. It
has small flowers scooping up the over skirt and around the long train and
includes diamantes randomly placed with a hooped and net petticoat.

These are the bridesmaids
to the above wedding, four in pale blue satin, one in peach satin and the
tiny one was white satin with peach trim. The skirts have hooped
petticoats and the dresses are trimmed with white lace, neck frill and
short puff sleeves. These dresses were made to reflect the style of the
brides dress. The two girls at the rear left are also brides themselves in
pictures above.

This bride is
wearing a fairly plain dress in white crepe, with long puff sleeves with a
mandarin collar. The top front of the bodice is a nylon fabric with small
embroidered flowers which is not very clear in this dated photo. The adult
bridesmaid had a peach crepe dress very closely matching the brides dress
in style.
The four children wore white cotton lawn patterned with small peach
flowers, peach velvet ribbon and lace trim to finish them.
